The Millennium Cup was awarded to the Club to mark the millennium in 2000.
It has generally been awarded to the Playing Section that has made the greatest contribution to the Club in the preceding year.
2004: Squash
The squash section was probably the section hardest hit by the Covid pandemic, a blow worsened by the historic management link to the previous gym tenant. Since the old gym closed, the squash section has worked tirelessly to rebuild and grow. It has not been easy. However they have achieved a great deal since then - club night has been re-introduced, promotions for 2 of the men's teams and fastly-developing junior squash.
2023: Tennis
The tennis section won the Moor Lea Cup Final against Bowdon Bowling, winning the competition for the first time since 1968. This is a competition that features men’s singles, ladies singles, men’s doubles, ladies doubles and mixed doubles and so is a full test of the strength of the section.
2022: Hockey & Cricket
The Millennium Cup is awarded each year to the Playing Section that has made the greatest contribution to the Club in the preceding year.
The Board resolved this year to award it not to a specific section but to be shared between two sections: hockey and cricket. With Hockey, the U18s Men’s team are National Champions. They share the Millennium Cup with Cricket, whose first XI in 2021 was promoted to the Cheshire County Cricket League ECB Premier Division with a team of homegrown players. This is the first time in over 20 years that the cricket first XI has been at that level. Both achievements are incredible and congratulations due to management, captains and players involved
